In Search of Sunrise

I am finally getting rid of the piece of crap that was many years ago considered a car. For the past year I have been saying a cardboard box on wheels would have been better, and I was not far off. But now, I am getting a new (used) car. My supervisor, who is always too busy to help, had nothing to do with this procedure, and I was probably better off for it. It took longer, but am I satisfied with the result. I shall purchase a Suzuki Wagon; I’ve heard that people have had problems with these cars, but all of these problems I’ve heard of related to the kei version of this car.

However, even if there are problems, the mechanic is what you call a “friend of a friend.” So, if I ever have a problem with the car, even though the car does not come with a warranty, he will fix it for free. That’s pretty damn nice for me.

Anyway, the specs… the car is a white plate, 4-door automatic with 79,000 km clocked, which is about 49,000 miles. Not too bad. It’s also got power-steering, A/C, a heater, a CD player (really stoked about that), four speakers, automatic windows and locks, as well as driver’s side, and passenger airbags. I took the car for a spin, and the car accelerates really nicely, either that or my standards have lowered significantly since driving the crapmobile. One thing I thought was strange was that this car has a turbocharged engine. I’m not necessarily complaining, but why? It’s pretty much a van; I’m not going to be vroom vrooming anywhere in a car like this, though the vroom sound is kinda cool.

The car is going to cost me 250,000 yen. This is pretty much what a paid for my crapmobile! But I don’t mind the cost so much because I feel like this is a good car… unlike my CRAPMOBILE! After the hell I’ve experienced, I am willing to pay the price for this nicer, SAFER vehicle. It will be nice to finally drive down the road without feeling like I might die.
